My wife, Chelsea Hagen, is incredibly passionate about the prophetic. This is because she knows first-hand the transformative power of a prophetic word from God in season. It was through this wonderful gift that Chelsea actually came to know Jesus!

In 2004, Chelsea was lost in brokenness. Not only was she very depressed, but she was addicted to alcohol. One day before we were married, I invited her to come to Church with me. Amazingly, she agreed!

The pastor of the Church had her sermon prepared but sensed God wanting to go in another direction. So obediently, she changed the plan for the whole meeting and prophesied over Chelsea for forty minutes! God had His sight set on Chelsea and wanted her to encounter the real Him! This reminds me of the shepherd leaving the ninety-nine for the one (Luke 15:3-7). Through the Spirit of God, this pastor knew the thoughts and intentions of the deep things of Chelsea’s heart. She knew things that Chelsea had never told anyone!

Ever since that day, not only has Chelsea fallen deeply in-love with Jesus, but she is now passionate about the prophetic. Her heart is to see every believer flowing in this life-changing gift. Below are some of her thoughts and keys for those who are wanting to grow and operate in the prophetic.

Revelation 19:10
And I fell at his feet to worship him. But he said to me, “See that you do not do that! I am your fellow servant, and of your brethren who have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”

Not only is Jesus the Word of God but He is also the spirit of prophesy. If we want to accurately represent Jesus in the prophetic, we need to know His Word. This is important because we must always prophesy in line with the Word of God!

Psalm 119:89
Forever, O Lord, Your word is settled in heaven

The Bible consists of sixty-six books, which is broken up into thirty-nine books in the OldTestament and twenty-seven in the New Testament. These are known as the canon scriptures, and are not negotiable or changeable. The Bible is our final authority. When we prophesy under the New Testament covenant we are not rewriting scripture. If we want to represent Christ accurately, what we say must line up with the plumb-line of the Word of God. In fact, in Revelation, there are very stern warnings and punishments for either adding or taking away from God’s Word.
